Managing Editor
The Environmental Reporting Collective (ERC) is a global network of newsrooms dedicated to exposing environmental crime through collaborative, in-depth investigations. Since its inception in 2020, the ERC has been recognised with multiple prestigious awards, including three SOPA Awards.
The ERC is currently seeking a Managing Editor to lead future investigations and support partner newsrooms. The ideal candidate will be based in Southeast Asia and report to the Executive Editor, based in Kuala Lumpur.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with journalists across the ERC network to develop story ideas and content.
Manage and coordinate all reporting and production efforts, including large-scale, cross-border investigations.
Ensure all content is produced and sourced in line with professional ethical standards of journalism.
Edit and fact-check stories for accuracy and quality.
Oversee grant management for partner newsrooms and journalists.
Cultivate relationships with new partner newsrooms, organizations, and journalists.
Qualifications
Proven experience in investigative journalism is required. We encourage journalists with strong investigative experience to apply, even if they have not previously held an editing role.
Ability to manage long-term projects and assignments.
Strong knowledge of and interest in environmental issues.
Experience in project management.
